Wine & Brine, Moira

10 minute drive from cottage in Moira.

Make sure you book in advance as it’s very popular. Chris McGowan is a Northern Ireland native who has returned home after a long stint in the UK where he worked at Richard Corrigan’s London restaurants for 12 years. Prior to that, he was Sous Chef for Pierre Koffmann at La Tante Claire, and spent nearly five years working for Gary Rhodes before that. Wine and Brine is his first restaurant which he opened with his wife Davina. It’s on the Main Street in Moira in a Georgian-fronted building. The clue is in the name. It showcases pickled, brined and fermented foods using Northern Irish produce with a lot of ingenuity and flair. Snacks are around £3-4, starters at £6-9 and mains at around £10-£17 from a seasonally driven menu that changes on a weekly basis.

Clenaghans Restaurant

About 5 minutes drive from the cottage in Aghalee.

Clenaghans restaurant is brought back to life with modern comfort warming the traditional stone building. A cosy interior is housed by a building dating back to the eighteenth century, fusing old with new. An inviting atmosphere with roaring fires and dinner by candlelight will welcome you and your guests. Creating incredible food using quality local ingredients bringing the community back to Clenaghans.

The Alchemy

5 minutes drive from cottage, towards Moira (beside Moira Train Station).

The Alchemy maintains a clear focus firmly on a farm to table ethos, ensuring the best quality ingredients create a spectrum of tastes from the traditional to the newest tasting cuisines. Great food and service with their aim is to provide the best possible experience to all their customers. A personal favourite of mine with an extensive menu to suit all types of palates.

Pretty Mary’s Bar & Foodhouse

About 10 minutes drive from the cottage in Moira’s Main Street.

Good old pub grub in Moira and they run a pub quiz through the week (check with the venue) and do a great Sunday lunch. Worth checking out. Due to Northern Ireland licence laws, kids are not allowed in a pub after 9pm.

The StillHouse

10 minutes drive from the cottage in Moira’s Main Street.

Pub and restaurant serving up the very best of local food, spirits and beer in the village of Moira and owned by on-site Hughes Craft Distiller. The StillHouse regularly runs sporting events e.g popular football or rugby matches and can be either visited for a drink at the pub, or for a meal in the restaurant area. Like all local restaurants, they also run a kids menu.

Midnight Hunt (Chinese Restaurant)

10 minutes drive from the cottage in Moira.

A popular Chinese Restaurant offering great food and service and they also do deliveries at the weekend, but orders usually need to be placed before 8pm and please check in advance in case this has changed.

Masala Hut Indian Cuisine

10 minutes from the cottage in Moira and they offer dining in, takeaway and deliveries.

Masala Hut Moira offers a beautiful range of Indian dishes in a small village setting of Moira. They offer a restaurant to dine in and also offer a takeaway and delivery service so a number of good options.
